Politics is all about screwing each other...

'Anonymous' commented to my previous post... 'politics is all about screwing each other every other night'... over the recent BJP-Sonia issue. To a certain extent.. or rather for sure, s/he is right that this will fade over time which led me to contemplate further on whether raising one's opinions serves any useful purpose after all. One thing is that you can vent out your feelings about any particular issues you feel strongly about.. but I am definitely unsure if this would lead to any effect on the current societal trends. To consider two examples, one of Satyendra Nath Dubey who died a 'martyr' fighting the rampant corruption prevalent today in India and another, not that widely known episode.. where Nimish Adani (an IT-BHU and IIM-Bangalore graduate) was again a target of a similar nexus between police and criminals.. and corruption. (see link for details).
All this leads me to vacillate regarding the utility or rather 'futility' of such blogs... I agree that public opinion is a strong might.. but is this the way to go?

A very valid question. Quoting from here,
... it is not the petitions are useless, it is the callousness of people and the indifference of the governing ones that is pointless. The then govt tried to play down Dubey for a while but with the 60,000 sig petition, press statements, it couldn't forcing the PM to make a statement (a start) and the supreme court to give an order to CVC to protect whistleblowers (again a start, but not fully effective). After Manjunath, the govt knew better not to try to play it down. At least it is playing to the gallery now (indifference budged a little).

The question to be asked is, what difference does it make to NOT express our opinion? If we do not express it, they think that noone cares, and they can go on.

Expressing your thoughts, if nothing, maintains status quo and stops things from degrading further.

So go on and express your thoughts - many people think the same and feel that they are small in numbers. When they see you talk about the same, that is when they also gather strength.

At the same time, try to explore both sides of issues before expressing your thoughts - comments grounded in reality are better received.

Best wishes,
